The Neighborhood Hot Dog Is Much Smaller and Fluffier Than Expected
Across a patch of autumn grass walks a tiny seal point Siamese kitten wrapped in a plush hot dog bun. The soft tan bun hugs her sides, and a wavy yellow mustard line runs along her back. Her face is dark and creamy, her ears are large and her blue eyes look up in a mix of wonder and mild embarrassment. Behind her, little jack-o'-lanterns sit by a porch and the cornstalks in the yard catch the evening light.
Siamese cats are known for their blue eyes, their talkative voices and their devotion to their people. They are social and smart, and many enjoy learning tricks, which can make them better sports about a costume than some breeds. Still, keep it comfortable. The outfit should not cover her eyes, restrict walking or breathing, or have anything she could chew off. A few minutes is plenty, and a treat makes a good reward. Watch her closely on the lawn, because grass can hide hazards such as fertilizer and sharp sticks, and a young kitten should never be left outdoors alone.
Mustard might be the best-dressed snack in the neighborhood. She walks with a little hint of a wiggle, and the bun bounces with every step. Everybody agrees that a hot dog has never looked so soft, or so thoroughly unbothered by the whole thing.
