A Tiny Tuxedo Kitten Dressed Up Without Even Trying
A paper garland of orange and black flags and loops hangs above, and below it sits a tiny tuxedo kitten with a black coat, white chest and four white socks. Her pink nose and bright eyes give her a look of polite surprise. She is sitting on a rug in an entryway full of Halloween bits: a small pumpkin in the corner, slippers by a bench, a plaid blanket and a backpack leaning on the wall.
Tuxedo cats are not a breed but a coat pattern, and they can be any kind of cat. Many people say tuxedos are outgoing and playful, but personality really varies from cat to cat. Garlands like this one can be tempting, since paper and string dangle and swing, and kittens love to jump for them. String and ribbon are especially risky, because swallowing them can be very dangerous, so hang decorations well out of reach. Paper flags can be chewed into small pieces too. Give her a safe toy to bat instead, and play with her so she is not tempted by the decorations. A calm evening and a warm spot make for a happy kitten.
Tux looks neat and ready for the party, with her white socks lined up perfectly. If the garland could clap, it would. She is the only guest who arrived already dressed for the occasion.
