The Presents Were Piled High, and One Fluffy Gift Wasn't Wrapped
The tree is glowing, the lamp is on, and the presents are stacked in every direction, with plaid ribbons, kraft paper and little sprigs of pine on top. In the middle of it all sits a white Bichon Frise named Flurry, round-faced and curly, looking straight into the room with dark button eyes. Her cloud of fur matches the snowy feel of the season, and she seems perfectly aware that she is the best gift in the house.
Bichons are cheerful, affectionate little dogs that love company, and they tend to stay close to the action. A tree full of presents is a fascinating place for them, so it helps to set a few ground rules. Gifts that smell of food, such as chocolate or cookies, are tempting and can be dangerous for dogs, so keep them on a high shelf until the big day. Ribbons and string can be swallowed and cause serious trouble. Tree water can contain additives or bacteria, so cover the stand, and pine needles are best kept off the floor, since they can irritate a dog's mouth and stomach. A supervised sit under the tree is just fine.
Flurry sits patiently, with no paws on any wrapping, which is a sign of a very good girl. Her sweet expression suggests she is waiting for a family to arrive and start the fun. With so many boxes around her, there may be one with her name on it.
