The Pumpkin Pie Had a New Neighbor Wrapped in Orange Knit
Wrapped in a chunky orange knit blanket with just her head and white paws poking out, a cream kitten looks like she has moved in on the kitchen counter. Her big ears stand tall and her golden eyes gaze off to the side. Right next to her sits a freshly baked pumpkin pie with a crinkled golden crust and a few crumbs scattered nearby, while a tiny jack-o'-lantern watches from the shelf behind.
Kittens love warm, snug places, and a thick blanket gives them both heat and the feeling of safety. A Devon Rex has a thin, wavy coat, so seeking out cozy fabric makes complete sense for this breed. The counter, though, deserves a little attention. Cats are natural climbers, but a kitchen can hold hot pans, sharp tools, and human foods that are not good for pets. Pumpkin pie is a good example, since it is full of sugar and spices, and some ingredients like nutmeg are not safe for cats. Plain cooked pumpkin is fine in small amounts for many pets, but check with your vet first.
Whatever she thinks of the pie, she seems to have chosen the best seat in the house. It is warm, soft, and smells wonderful. The blanket has been shaped into a perfect little nest, and she is staying put until somebody decides to offer her a better one.
