A Border Collie Waited Patiently While the Lights Wrapped Around Her
A black and white Border Collie sits upright on a gray blanket, with a string of twinkling lights draped around her legs and chest, looking at the camera with an intelligent, patient gaze. Behind her, a small lit tree stands in a corner, and the room is full of holiday clutter: a wicker basket, a box of decorations, some toys, and a plaid throw on a chair.
Border Collies are widely considered one of the smartest dog breeds, bred for herding and working with people. They tend to be energetic and thrive when they have a job to do, which is why a bored collie may start rearranging the living room, including the decorations. Lights and cords are a real concern: chewing on a plugged-in strand can cause burns or shock, and a dog who gets wound up in them can be hurt. Unplug strands when you are not watching, tuck cords out of reach, and give her something to do instead. Puzzle toys, training games, and long walks go a long way with a breed like this.
Those eyes seem to say she is waiting to be told what to do next.
Until then, she sits patiently inside the glow and lets the holiday decorate her. She does not fidget once, which is exactly what you would expect from a dog who likes to wait for instructions, and the lights glow softly around her like a very patient halo.
