Breakfast Was on the Table, and So Was the Smallest Guest in the House
Breakfast is on the table, and so is the smallest guest in the house. A tiny chocolate Chihuahua with fluffy ear fringes stands right in the middle of a wooden kitchen table, surrounded by a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon strips, buttered toast, avocado slices, strawberries, and blueberries. Crumbs and bits of food are scattered around its little paws, and a fork lies next to the plate. The dog looks up with round, shiny eyes and an innocent expression, its tongue peeking out just slightly. A glass of water, a dish towel, and a sunny kitchen complete the morning scene.
Chihuahuas are the smallest recognized dog breed, but they are known for big personalities, loyalty, and bravery that seems far larger than their size. Because they are so tiny, even small amounts of rich human food can affect them more than a larger dog. Bacon and butter are very high in fat and salt and can upset a dog's stomach. Avocado is also best avoided. Plain cooked egg and a few berries are generally considered fine treats in moderation, but it is wise to talk to your vet before sharing table food regularly. A fall from a table can also injure small dogs, so lift them down gently.
Look at that face and you will understand how this little one ended up on the table in the first place. It is very difficult to say no to a breakfast guest this charming and this small.
