The Birthday Cake Had a Very Short Life. The Boxer's Paws Tell the Story.

AI imageboxercaught in the actcake frosting

White frosting coats both of his front paws like a pair of fluffy socks, and smudges trail across the tile floor behind him. A fawn Boxer lies flat on the kitchen tiles, wrinkled brow lifted, dark eyes enormous and pleading, as if hoping the frosting on his feet will somehow go unnoticed. A wooden cutting board leans off the edge of the counter, a bowl with more frosting sits nearby, and a dish towel lies crumpled on the floor. It is clear the birthday cake had a very short life.

Boxers are energetic, playful, and famously goofy dogs that keep a puppyish spirit well into adulthood. They are strong and athletic, so they need plenty of daily exercise and mental challenges to stay out of trouble, and many do best with consistent, positive training from an early age. As for the cake, sweets are not a good snack for dogs. Rich, fatty, or sugary foods can cause stomach upset, and in some dogs a large fatty meal may trigger pancreatitis, a painful condition that needs veterinary care. Chocolate, raisins, and certain sugar substitutes found in baked goods can be toxic. If your dog raids a dessert, check the ingredients and call your vet if anything concerning was in it.

This Boxer may not be getting another slice, but he has clearly earned a bath and a long walk. And maybe a dog-friendly treat, once the floor is mopped.
