It Looked Like a Snowstorm Hit the Living Room. Luna Was Right in the Middle.
It looks like a snowstorm hit the living room. A silver tabby Norwegian Forest Cat sits upright in a drift of fluffy white stuffing that has been pulled from a torn couch cushion, tufts of filling piled around its paws and scattered across the floor. Shredded scraps of upholstery fabric curl around the edges. The cat's lush silver coat, tufted ears, and big green-gold eyes give it a soft, angelic look as it gazes upward, as though it simply wandered in and found things this way. A plaid blanket, a knit hat, and a basket of laundry fill out the background.
Norwegian Forest Cats are large, strong, and athletic, with a long double coat designed for harsh northern winters. They are often described as friendly and adaptable, and they tend to love climbing and exploring. Like all cats, they need to scratch, and soft furniture can become a target if better options are not around. Tall, sturdy scratching posts placed near favorite lounging spots can make a big difference, as can regular nail trims. Loose stuffing should be cleaned up quickly, since some cats are tempted to chew it, and swallowed filling can cause stomach trouble.
We will call her Luna, a fitting name for a cat who looks like she floated down from the clouds. Those clouds just happen to come from the couch, and she would like to keep them, please.
