Norwegian Forest Cat Meets a Can of Blue Paint and Loses
A pale blue puddle is spreading across the floor from a tipped-over paint can, and the brown tabby Norwegian Forest Cat beside it has become part of the painting. Streaks of blue run through her long chest fur and across her whiskers, and her tufted ears are pulled back with a look of worry. She is turned partway to the side, big golden eyes watching the room, as if she is waiting to hear how bad it is.
Norwegian Forest Cats are big, sturdy cats with thick double coats made for cold weather, and they are known for being friendly, intelligent, and good climbers. That fluffy coat is also very good at collecting whatever gets spilled on it. If a cat gets paint on her fur, the most important thing is to stop her from licking it, because cats groom constantly and can swallow what is on their coats. Many paints and solvents are not safe for pets, so call your vet or a pet poison hotline for advice before trying to clean it off. Keep paint cans closed and out of reach, and keep cats out of rooms where painting is going on until everything is dry and aired out.
This forest cat looks very solemn about her new look, and a little bit like an artist whose work was not appreciated. She will need some care and a calm helper, and then she will go back to being the fluffy queen of the house.
