Oreo the Tuxedo Cat Carries His Favorite Slipper Like a Trophy
A very worn blue slipper hangs from the tuxedo cat's mouth, with a frayed heel and a hole chewed through the toe. He looks straight at the camera with bright green eyes and a tiny, satisfied smile, his white paws and chest bright against the black fur. A laundry basket and another pair of slippers sit in the background of the quiet hallway.
Many cats love to carry things around the house, and a slipper is a prize that smells just like their favorite person. Some cats treat soft objects as prey and bring them home, and others simply want something that smells comforting. Chewing on fabric, though, can be dangerous if the cat swallows pieces, so it is best to keep slippers and other soft items in a closet and give him toys that are made for chewing. If your cat starts chewing fabric a lot, talk to your vet, because it may be a sign of boredom or stress. Tuxedo cats are not a breed, just a coat pattern, and they come in all kinds of personalities, but many are friendly, funny, and very good at getting attention.
We will call him Oreo. The slipper will not survive, but the memories will. He seems to be very proud of what he did, and it would be mean to take the prize away too quickly.
