A Tortoiseshell Cat Looks Guilty Beside a Flooded Water Bowl
The grey water bowl is on its side, and a shiny puddle has spread across the wooden floor around the tortoiseshell cat. She looks at the camera with a guilty face, her golden eyes wide and her patchwork coat of black and orange slightly damp. A pair of slippers and a rug sit nearby, and the sunlight gives the water a bright glare.
Some cats like to play in water, tapping the surface with a paw or flipping a bowl entirely. It can be a fun game, or a sign that the cat prefers moving water. Many cats also prefer a wide, shallow bowl so their whiskers do not touch the sides, and some enjoy a pet fountain. A heavy ceramic or non-slip bowl can stop spills, and placing it on a mat helps keep the floor dry. Fresh water is important for every cat's health, so check the bowl each day. If your cat suddenly drinks a lot more than usual, talk to your vet, because it can be a sign of a health issue. Tortoiseshells are known for lively personalities.
She seems to have decided that the splash was worth it. The floor will need a towel and the bowl will need a refill. She will probably be back to check on it, in case the bowl has refilled itself with something even more fun.
