A Silver Norwegian Forest Cat Freezes on a Mountain of Torn Mail
Torn envelopes and pieces of paper lie in a deep pile, and the silver Norwegian Forest Cat sitting on top of it has gone perfectly still. His thick coat is a mix of grey and silver, and his big green eyes are fixed on the viewer. Behind him are a basket of laundry, a plant, and a blanket on a chair, and the whole room seems to be waiting for someone to speak.
Cats love paper. It rustles, tears, and moves when they bat at it, and a pile of mail is the ideal size for pouncing on. Norwegian Forest Cats are active, strong, and intelligent, and they were bred to hunt in cold climates, so they have a lot of natural energy. Giving them a box of crumpled paper, a puzzle feeder, and a tall cat tree can help to use up that energy. Important papers, such as bills and documents, are best kept in a closed basket or on a high shelf. Chewing paper is usually not harmful in small amounts, but talk to your vet if your cat seems to be eating it. Their thick coats also need regular brushing, especially in spring.
He looks like he has been caught in the middle of an important meeting. The mail will need to be sorted, or recycled, and the cat will probably take a nap.
