A Tiny Black Pomeranian Marches Through the Snow With a Stolen Glove
Snow stretches across the yard in every direction, and in the middle stands a fluffy black Pomeranian with a pale knitted glove clamped proudly in its mouth. The little ears are pricked forward, the round dark eyes look straight up, and bits of snow dust the chest fur. A wooden fence and bare bushes line the background, and a few paw prints trail behind the dog.
Pomeranians are small dogs with a big, fluffy double coat that helps them handle cool weather, but they are still tiny, so short outdoor sessions and a warm towel afterward are the way to go in winter. Many small dogs love to steal and carry things, and gloves are a favorite. When a dog runs off with something, chasing often turns it into a game, so try a trade instead: offer a treat or a favorite toy and calmly say "drop it." Keep an eye out for snow clumps between the toes, and check paws after walks. Your vet can offer advice about cold-weather care for small dogs.
One hand will be a little colder this afternoon. The Pomeranian, though, is a proud and fluffy burglar, smaller than the loot would suggest, and he has no plans to give it back until the game has been played to the very end. After the game ends and the glove is rescued, a warm towel and a treat will make everything right again.
