A Cream Havanese Redesigned the Garden and Sat in the Middle of It
The flower bed looks as if a small tractor passed through. Loose soil lies in mounds, seedlings poke out sideways, and in the center sits a cream Havanese with a long, silky coat and a gaze turned off to the side with great calm. A garden hose and a green watering can sit nearby in the dirt, and a wooden fence runs behind. The dog's paws and chest fur are dark with soil.
Havanese are friendly, affectionate small dogs from Cuba, known for their silky, flowing coats and their cheerful, clownish ways. They love to be with their people and are quick learners, but like many dogs, they enjoy a good dig. That long coat will collect dirt, burrs, and tangles, so brushing after garden time is a must. Keep fertilizers, mulch, and pest killers well away from pets, since some are harmful, and supervise yard time. A small sandbox with a few toys buried inside can be a fun, acceptable place to dig. If your dog eats soil or plants, ask your vet.
The garden will have to be replanted, and the Havanese will need a long brushing. For now the dog sits in the center of the flower bed as though it were a throne, gazing at some distant interest, perfectly sure it is the most ordinary thing in the world.
