A Siberian Husky Sat Very Still on the Bed Covered in Mud Prints
A gray and white Siberian Husky sits upright on a rumpled bed, pale blue eyes huge and unblinking, ears straight up. The comforter is covered in brown muddy paw prints from one end to the other, like a trail map of the afternoon. A mug on the nightstand, a pile of clothes, and a basket of laundry sit behind in the warm light. The dog looks frozen in place, as though waiting for someone to speak.
Siberian Huskies are energetic, friendly, and independent dogs bred to pull sleds over long distances, and they need a great deal of exercise. A Husky who hasn't had enough running may head straight for the yard, the mud, and then the softest bed in the house. Wiping paws at the door and keeping a towel handy can protect the bedding, and a daily run or long walk helps use up that energy. Huskies also have a thick double coat and shed heavily, so regular brushing is a must. If your dog's paws look sore after muddy outings, check with your vet.
The laundry will be a long project. The Husky, for her part, seems delighted with the bed and the adventure that came before it, though the guilty eyes say she knows what she has done. Fortunately, a dog this charming rarely stays in trouble for long.
