A Tiny Chihuahua Froze Right in the Middle of Her Butter Break
The cream Chihuahua stares straight at us with eyes as round as marbles, and her whiskers are glistening with butter. Beside her sits a white dish with only a few streaks left on the sides, licked nearly spotless. The kitchen counter is crumby and quiet, and a folded towel lies behind her. She has frozen mid-chew, not daring to blink, and she looks like a tiny thief in a bright spotlight.
Chihuahuas are tiny but fearless dogs with big personalities, and they are very loyal to their favorite person. Their small size means a small amount of rich food can have a big effect. Butter and other fatty foods can upset a dog's stomach and, in some cases, cause serious problems like pancreatitis, so it is smart to keep the butter dish out of reach and to call your vet if your dog eats a large amount. A small, healthy treat offered as a replacement for table scraps keeps everyone happy.
We will call her Peaches. She looks like a dog who was just about to leave the scene when the light came on. Her ears are tall, her little chest is puffed up, and she is trying very hard not to look at the dish. The butter has obviously been enjoyed, which makes the surprise on her face all the more wonderful.
