A Tiny Yorkie Went Into the Baking Supplies and Came Out White
Something went terribly right in the kitchen. A blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier named Gizmo stands on the counter-level mess with white flour dusted over his whiskers, eyebrows and long ears, his dark eyes huge and unblinking. Behind him, a torn flour bag leans over a mixing bowl, a spoon lies on the cabinet and powder drifts across every surface. It looks like a snowstorm blew through the baking supplies.
Yorkshire Terriers are small dogs with big, bold personalities, and their terrier background gives them plenty of curiosity and determination. They are quick, clever and love to investigate anything new. Their long silky coats need regular brushing, so a floury face will need a gentle comb-out. A damp cloth wiped softly around the eyes is a good starting point.
Plain flour is not toxic to dogs, but it can cause a mess and might upset a small stomach if a lot is eaten. More concerning is what else is on the counter: chocolate chips, raisins, nuts and sweeteners can all be harmful. Keep baking ingredients well out of reach, and call your vet if your dog eats anything unusual.
Gizmo, however, is clearly proud of his work. He stands there like a tiny pastry chef who forgot to bring an apron, and the powdery beard only adds to his dignity.
