A Bichon Frise Has a Calm Face and a Very Chewed Remote

Fluffy as a cloud, a white Bichon Frise rests on the sofa with his chin tilted up and a dark eye fixed on something just out of view. Beside him lies a TV remote with a few chewed edges and small bits of plastic scattered on the cushion. Behind him, a tissue box, a hand sanitizer bottle, and a pile of blankets sit on a table. His round, black nose and curly white coat make it hard to be upset.

Bichons are cheerful, affectionate little dogs who love being near their families, and they can sometimes struggle when left alone. Chewing is one way a stressed or bored dog may cope. Remotes are tempting because they smell like people and have soft rubber buttons, but they also contain small batteries, which can be seriously dangerous if swallowed. If your dog chews a remote, check for missing pieces and call your vet right away if a battery is missing. Providing safe chew toys, short training sessions, and a regular routine can all help, and so can keeping electronics out of reach.

He looks calm and innocent, as though the remote simply fell apart on its own. His little puff of a tail will wag at the first sign of forgiveness. A replacement remote can be found, but a face like this is hard to replace.
