A Border Collie Brought the Garden to Bed and Left a Muddy Trail
Muddy paw prints are stamped across the bedspread in a happy pattern, and a red and white Border Collie sits in the middle with a bright, slightly guilty smile. His white blaze is neat, his brown ears are soft, and his coat is thick and glossy. A pillow, a window with light curtains, and a bit of laundry sit behind him. He seems delighted by his handiwork and unsure whether he should be.
Border Collies are intelligent, athletic herding dogs who love to run and work. They often need hours of exercise and training every day, and a collie who has spent his morning in the yard can bring a lot of the outdoors back with him. Wiping paws at the door with a damp towel or keeping a mat near the entrance can help prevent muddy beds. It is also a good idea to check paws for burrs, thorns, or small cuts after outdoor adventures, and talk to your vet if you see anything concerning. A washable blanket on top of the bed protects the sheets.
The bed is soft, the day was fun, and the mud was irresistible. He may not understand why anyone would mind. After a wash, the sheets will be fresh, and he will be ready for another day of adventure and, perhaps, a new set of prints.
