A White Longhair Sits on Top of the Clean Laundry Like a Queen
A fresh load of laundry has never looked so good, at least to the white longhair sitting on top of it. She is perched in a wicker basket with her golden eyes looking out and her tiny smile giving nothing away. Shirts, towels and socks are spilling out around her and over the wooden floor, in a trail that leads all the way to the doorway.
Cats love laundry baskets for many reasons. Clean clothes are soft and warm, and they carry the comforting scent of the people in the house. A basket is a perfect size for sitting in, and it puts a cat at a good height to watch the room. Norwegian Forest Cats have thick, long coats and tend to be calm and gentle, and a pile of fresh towels is a very pleasant place to rest.
Fur on the clean clothes is a fact of life with a long-haired cat, so a lint roller is a handy tool. It is also wise to check the basket before running the washer and dryer, since cats sometimes snuggle into warm machines. Always look inside before closing the door, and keep detergents and fabric sheets out of reach, because they can be harmful to pets.
This one has no plan to move. The laundry was folded this morning, and now it is a nest. The only thing left to do is to spread out, close her eyes and wait for someone to notice.
