A Beagle Freezes Beside the Treat Bag He Tore Wide Open
The bag of treats has been torn wide open, and brown pieces are spread across the wooden floor in a long trail. A lemon and white Beagle sits next to it with huge brown eyes, frozen in place with his ears hanging at his sides. His nose is still twitching, and a fuzzy blanket sits in the background.
Beagles are famous for their noses. They were bred as scent hounds to track rabbits, and their sense of smell is incredible. They are also well known for their love of food, and a treat bag does not stay hidden for long. A Beagle can find a snack through a closed door.
Because Beagles love to eat, they can gain weight easily, so treats need to be measured. Eating a large amount at once can also cause stomach upset. Store treats in a sealed container on a high shelf. If your dog has eaten a whole bag, call your vet, especially if the treats contain anything like xylitol or if he is vomiting.
The Beagle looks like he knows he is in trouble, but he is also still thinking about the treats. His big eyes are full of honesty and hope. He will probably be forgiven, and perhaps given one more, but only one. After that, the bag goes up on the high shelf, and the nose goes back to work searching for the next big discovery.
