A Weimaraner Climbed Into the Open Dishwasher and Froze
The dishwasher door is open, and a silver grey Weimaraner is standing right inside it with his front paws on the rack. His amber eyes are wide and his floppy ears hang beside his long face, as if he has just realized how this looks. A towel, a bottle and a counter full of kitchen items sit in the background.
Weimaraners are athletic, energetic hunting dogs with sleek silver coats and a deep attachment to their families. They are often called gray ghosts, and they love to follow their people everywhere. They are clever, curious and full of energy, which means they can find a way into almost anything, including an open dishwasher.
Dishwashers hold real hazards for dogs. Sharp knives, forks and broken glass can cause injury, and detergent pods are toxic. A dog may also lick food off dishes, and some of it might not be safe. Keep the door closed whenever the machine is not being loaded, and consider using a child-safety latch. If your dog gets into detergent or swallows something sharp, call your vet right away.
The Weimaraner is frozen with big eyes, sure that he has been caught. He just wanted to clean the plates, and he did it with great enthusiasm. If anyone is looking for a pre-rinse service, he is available. The only trouble is that his methods involve a great deal of licking, and nobody has quite agreed to those terms yet.
