A Fluffy Orange Cat Sits Beside a Floor Full of Spilled Water

AI imageorange catwater bowlhallway

Water has spread across the floorboards in glossy puddles, the blue-gray bowl is rolling on its side, and a fluffy orange cat sits beside it with a gentle, slightly guilty smile. His soft ginger fur is a little rumpled and his green eyes look straight ahead, calm and a bit sheepish.

In the hallway behind him, a tote bag sits on a doormat, shoes are lined up by the wall, and a plant stands in the corner. A pair of slippers rests nearby, a sign that somebody will soon be walking across that wet floor.

Many cats like to play with water, tapping at it with a paw or tipping the bowl to watch it spill. Some cats prefer moving water, and a pet fountain can encourage them to drink more. A heavy ceramic or stainless-steel bowl that does not tip easily helps keep floors dry, and a wide, shallow bowl is often more comfortable for whiskers. Place water in several spots around the house and keep it fresh. If your cat suddenly starts drinking much more or less than usual, tell your vet, since changes in thirst can be worth checking.

The cat seems to feel he made a small splash, in more ways than one. A mop will fix everything, as always, and he will probably supervise that too.
