The Sandwich Was Made. The Weimaraner Pretended She Knew Nothing.
A silver-gray Weimaraner sits stiffly on the tile floor with her head turned away, and her amber eyes look somewhere across the room. On the floor in front of her lies a sandwich with a big bite taken out of it, and lettuce and tomato peek out from the bread. Crumbs are scattered around her paws, a blue dish towel lies crumpled nearby, and a water bowl waits against the cabinets. Sunlight pours through the window. We'll call her Sterling, and she is a picture of innocence.
Weimaraners are athletic, intelligent dogs, originally bred for hunting, and they are known for their sleek silver coats and light-colored eyes. They have high energy and need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and they tend to form very strong bonds with their people. A bored Weimaraner may start counter surfing, chewing or searching for snacks. A sandwich can include onions, garlic or heavily seasoned meats that don't suit dogs, so keep lunches out of reach and teach a reliable leave it cue. If your dog eats something worrying, call your vet. Daily runs and training games will help keep her focused and out of the pantry.
Sterling is sitting as still as a statue, as if the sandwich simply appeared on the floor. Her expression is calm and just a little sheepish. Lunch is gone, the crumbs are everywhere, and the only thing left is her very elegant profile.
