The Astronomer Wears a Hat Full of Stars and a Serious Frown
Beneath a night-black hat sprinkled with gold stars, a stern grey face looks out from the pastel room. The astronomer is a round-cheeked Exotic Shorthair with copper eyes and a plush, smoke-colored coat. He wears a pink coat embroidered with gold, lace at the collar and cuffs, and his paws rest on a table covered with a pale lace cloth. At his side, a brass orrery glimmers, its rings turning like tiny planets, and behind him, tall windows and pastel flowers fill the room with a soft glow.
The little hat is the best part, with its crescent moon and golden stars. It gives him an air of cosmic importance that does not quite match his fuzzy cheeks.
Cats are natural stargazers in the sense that they love to watch things, and a window perch is one of the best enrichments you can offer. Exotic Shorthairs are quiet, calm companions who enjoy watching the world from a sunny spot. Their dense coat should be brushed weekly, and their flat faces may need gentle wiping to keep tear stains tidy. Because their noses are short, avoid overheating. Provide a comfortable bed near a window, and talk to your vet about weight, dental care and checkups.
The stars are out, the orrery is ready and the astronomer has decided that observing from a warm cushion is the most scientific method.
