A Yellow Lab King Tries Very Hard to Sit Still on His Throne
Sitting up very straight, the king has taken his seat with a slightly worried expression, as though he has been told not to wiggle. The yellow Labrador wears a golden crown decorated with tiny pink blossoms, and a snowy ermine cape with black spots lies over his shoulders. His pink and gold coat is tied with a pink ribbon at the chest, and he sits on a gilded throne with a pink cushion, his front paws planted carefully on the seat. Behind him, soft drapes and golden carvings fill the pastel room.
What makes this portrait so charming is how much effort the king is clearly making. His tail seems to be tucked neatly, his ears are relaxed and his eyes look straight ahead.
Labrador Retrievers are friendly, outgoing dogs that love to please their people. They were bred to retrieve for hunters, and many still adore fetch, swimming and anything involving their mouths. They are usually eager to learn, so training with treats and praise works well. Labs love food and gain weight easily, so measured meals and plenty of exercise are important, and your vet can help you find the right portion. Keep chocolate, grapes and onions out of reach, as they can be harmful to dogs.
His Majesty is a kind and cheerful ruler. His royal decree for the day is that every ball must be thrown at least twice.
