The Court Painter Has Paint on His Paw and a Twinkle in His Eye
The painter has a smudge on his thumb and a gleam in his eye. An orange longhair cat with a soft, fluffy ruff and amber eyes looks out, one ear a little crooked. He wears a navy blue coat with delicate embroidery at the collar, a cream waistcoat with brass buttons and a white cravat. In one paw, he holds a wooden palette dotted with blue, red, yellow and green paint, and behind him, soft grey drapery frames a window.
There is something very pleasing about the mix of colors on the palette against the muted background, as if the only bright things in the room are the paint and the cat himself.
Long-haired orange cats are often friendly, laid-back and fond of company, though each cat has his own style. Their fluffy coat needs regular brushing, several times a week, to prevent tangles and cut down on hairballs. Cats also benefit from creative enrichment, such as puzzle feeders, climbing shelves and safe hiding spots. If you do any painting or crafts at home, keep paints and solvents away from pets, since many art supplies can be harmful. Ask your vet about safe products and a healthy diet.
The painting is almost finished, and the artist is delighted. The only thing left is to sign it with a paw print.
