The Golden Retriever Admiral Spotted Something on the Horizon
Soft, wavy golden fur spills over a dark navy collar, and the admiral looks off to the side as if spotting a distant sail. This golden Retriever has deep brown eyes, silky ears, and the gentle, steady expression of a dog who has never met a stranger. His uniform is rich navy velvet with ornate gold embroidery at the collar, thick gold braid down the chest, and fringed epaulettes on the shoulders. A warm amber glow lights the shadows behind him. The painter gave his fur a lovely glow, and one ear tilts slightly forward as if he heard someone say the word walk.
Golden Retrievers were bred to fetch game for hunters, and they still love to carry things in their mouths. They are friendly, patient, and eager to please, which is why so many become family dogs and helpers. They need daily exercise, and swimming is a favorite activity. Their feathered coat sheds a lot, so regular brushing helps. Goldens are also famous for loving food, so keeping an eye on their weight protects their joints. They are social dogs and are happiest when they spend time with their people, so give plenty of attention.
The fleet is probably in good paws. If the admiral has one flaw, it is that every sailor, seagull, and passerby gets a friendly greeting. Discipline is not his specialty, but morale is always high.
