The Maine Coon Musician Raised His Bow and the Court Held Its Breath
A thick black ruff of fur, tufted ears and glowing amber eyes belong to this Maine Coon musician, who has just picked up his violin. The instrument rests against his chest, its warm brown wood shining, while a bow stretches along the bottom of the painting in a black paw with a white ruffled cuff. He wears a green velvet cap, a white ruff and a coat of deep green embroidered with gold. The patterned wall behind him is orange and dark green. Maestro Midnight looks about to begin, but a cat musician always waits until the room is quiet.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, known for a shaggy coat, a bushy tail and a friendly, gentle personality. They are often called gentle giants, and many enjoy company and follow their people around. Their long fur needs regular brushing, especially around the belly and behind the legs where mats form. They are usually chatty in soft chirps and trills rather than loud meows, so a violin player would fit right in. Maine Coons grow slowly, taking several years to mature, and a good vet can guide you on diet and joint health for a big cat.
The concert has not started, and perhaps it never will. Some musicians are best enjoyed at the moment right before the first note, when everything feels possible.
