Four Dachshund Puppies Moved Into One Giant Cream Sweater
A chunky cream sweater has been rolled into a nest, and four sleepy Dachshund puppies are tucked into its folds. Two are gray dapple and two are warm red-brown, and they are curled into each other with ears draped over shoulders. Seen from above, the knit pattern makes a scalloped frame around them, and the wooden floor below completes the cozy scene.
Soft knitwear is a favorite nesting material, and it is easy to see why. It holds warmth and carries the smell of a person, which can comfort young dogs. Dachshunds are especially sensitive to cold because their bodies are short-haired, low to the ground and not very large. In winter they may need a snug dog sweater on walks, and indoors they appreciate a bed with high sides or a blanket to burrow under. When a puppy sleeps in a sweater that belongs to a person, check that no loose threads or buttons are within chewing range, since yarn can cause serious problems if swallowed. If you want a safe alternative, a fleece blanket works wonderfully and is easy to wash. Always talk to your vet about what temperature is comfortable for your puppy.
These four are warm, full and quiet. Anybody who wants the sweater back will have to wait for a long, long nap to end.
