Four Basset Hound Puppies Lined Up for a Nap on the Windowsill
The window ledge has room for exactly four sleepers, and four lemon and white Basset Hound puppies have filled it. They are curled and sprawled in a snoozing line, soft ears flopped, eyes closed, a pink nose here and a white paw there. Bright light comes through the glass beside them and a white curtain hangs at the edge of the frame.
A sunny window is a classic napping spot for dogs and cats alike. The warmth is relaxing, and the view offers just enough entertainment. For Basset puppies, a ledge like this is best used with care: they are heavy for their size, with short legs, so a fall or a leap down could hurt. Keep windows closed or well screened, add a soft cushion or folded blanket on the ledge, and place a low stool nearby if they climb up on their own. Bassets love to watch the world, and many will happily spend time observing birds, passing cars and neighborhood dogs. If barking at the window becomes a problem, draw the curtain or offer a puzzle toy. Too much sun can overheat a puppy, so move him if he pants.
These four couldn't look more peaceful. The sun is warm, the ledge is cozy, and the rest of the world can carry on without them. Maybe a bird will land outside later, and four sleepy heads will lift for a moment, then sink right back down.
