Two Tiny Puppies Fit Into One Pair of Hands With Room to Spare
Two small Blenheim puppies are cradled in a pair of hands, their white bellies facing out and their paws hanging down in the same relaxed way. Their ears, a soft chestnut, fall past their cheeks, and both look toward the camera with round, dark eyes. The person holding them wears a gray sweater, and the room behind them is calm and bright.
Handling matters a lot for young puppies. Gentle, regular contact helps them get used to being touched, lifted, and checked over, which makes future vet visits and grooming much easier. To hold a small puppy safely, support the chest with one hand and the hindquarters with the other, keep the pup close to your body, and avoid letting her dangle or squirm free.
Children should hold puppies sitting down on the floor or a sofa, under supervision, so a wriggle will not turn into a fall. Short, calm sessions are best, and a puppy that wants down should be let down gently. A tired puppy is often a wiggly one, so watch for signs she has had enough.
Cavaliers are known for loving human contact, so being scooped up is rarely a problem for them. These two look calm, trusting, and comfortable, as if being held is exactly where they planned to be. Two small bundles, four little feet, and one very soft moment.
