Two Chocolate Puppies Dove Into the Laundry and Refused to Leave
A laundry basket with a blue-striped rim is filled with fabric, and two chocolate puppies have settled deep into it. One looks out with a sweet, round-eyed gaze, while the other buries its face in the cloth. Their curly coats are the same dark shade as the shadows between folds, and a messy table and window sit behind them. The stripes look neat, but the pile inside is anything but.
Puppies are attracted to laundry because it smells like their people. A warm sweater, a worn shirt, or a soft towel gives them a sense of comfort, and many dogs will drag clothing off to their bed for exactly that reason. It is a sweet sign of attachment, but it also calls for caution.
Socks, underwear, and small fabrics are tempting to chew, and swallowing them can cause serious problems. Keep laundry in a closed hamper or high up, and never leave a puppy alone in a basket of clothes. If she has eaten fabric, call your vet right away. Also, wash anything the puppy has chewed or soiled, since damp cloth can grow bacteria.
These two are not chewing anything, only snuggling into the soft pile. They seem to have decided that clean laundry is the best bed in the house, and they will probably keep that opinion until someone needs the clothes back. The folded blue cloth makes a fine pillow.
