A Tiny Chocolate Havanese Sat in Grass Taller Than Himself
The grass is nearly as tall as he is, and a single chocolate Havanese puppy sits in the middle of it, looking up at something above the camera. His curly brown coat is warm in the sun, one ear is draped over his cheek, and his brown eyes are wide with interest. A blue watering can and a canvas bag sit on the porch behind him.
Tall grass is full of wonderful smells for a puppy, but it can also hide ticks, foxtails and burrs. After time in a grassy area, run your hands over your dog, check the ears, legs and belly, and brush out any seeds or twigs. A long, silky coat like the Havanese's can trap a lot of debris, and some owners choose a shorter trim in summer. Ask your vet about flea and tick prevention for your area.
Havanese are friendly, curious dogs, and a pup on its own in the garden is likely to stay close to his people, since the breed is known as a loyal shadow. They are small enough to be comfortable in town homes but still enjoy a good play in the yard. Keep fresh water and shade available when it is warm.
This one is sitting very still, listening. Perhaps there is a bird in the tree, a bee on a flower, or simply a wonderful new smell.
