Three Black and White Pups Made a Cloud Out of One Rug
On a round, shaggy rug as white as a cloud, three black and white Havanese puppies have curled into a tight triangle. Their black ears and patches stand out sharply against the fluff, and their chins rest on each other's backs. It is hard to tell where one puppy ends and another begins, and a little white paw sticks out in the middle.
Puppies who sleep close together often wake up in the same moment, as if someone rang a bell. It is part of how a litter stays connected. At home, a new puppy may miss that closeness, and a soft bed, a warm blanket and a calm place near the family can help it adjust. A stuffed toy for company is a common comfort for a small pup in a new home.
Havanese are known as lap dogs, and they often like to settle close to the people they love. Their coats are silky and can tangle, so brushing is part of care. A shaggy rug looks like a perfect bed, but loose fibers can be chewed or swallowed, so supervise puppies on any rug that has long strands.
The three on the rug have clearly chosen it as the cloud of the day. If nothing wakes them, it will be a very long, very soft afternoon. Somewhere under all that fluff there are three small hearts beating in time, and the rug rises and falls gently with every breath.
