Two Saint Bernard Pups Moved Into the Biggest Sweater Around
A huge cream cable knit sweater has been bunched into a nest, and two red and white Saint Bernard puppies are tucked inside, their soft faces resting on the wool. One has its eyes half closed in a dreamy look while the other peers upward with a slightly puzzled expression. The window behind them lets in daylight, and a cardboard box and a heap of clothes mark a busy corner of the room.
Soft knits can look like the ideal puppy bed, but loose yarn and threads can be hazardous if chewed and swallowed. If a puppy is likely to chew a blanket or sweater, offer a washable bed made for dogs and supervise when it explores fabrics. Items with a familiar smell can comfort a young puppy, so a worn t-shirt placed in the bed is a safer option than an old wool sweater.
Saint Bernards have a thick coat, which can make them feel the heat more than the cold, so a puppy snuggled in wool is probably only warm enough to nap. As adults they do best in cool, shaded places, especially in summer. Ask your vet about managing heat and keeping a thick-coated dog comfortable.
For now it is a snug nest, and both pups look completely content. The sweater is much too big for them to wear, but it makes a splendid bed.
