Two Saint Bernard Puppies Fell Asleep Chin to Chin on the Rug
Two red and white Saint Bernard puppies are resting their chins on a thick sheepskin rug, their eyes closed in peaceful sleep. Their white blazes are bright against the dark patches around their eyes, their big paws are folded neatly forward and their cheeks are squished against the wool. A sunny corner of a room, with a woven basket and a pair of slippers, stretches out behind them.
A woolly rug can be an irresistible nap spot for a puppy, and it gives the dog a soft place to lie on a hard floor, which is helpful for big dogs. Large-breed puppies put a lot of weight on their joints, and a soft place to rest can be comfortable for them. Just be sure your puppy does not chew the rug, and wash it according to its care instructions.
Saint Bernards are known for being gentle giants, and even as puppies they tend to be calm and affectionate. They bond closely with their families, and they usually enjoy sleeping close to someone. Keeping a regular routine for meals, naps and walks helps them feel secure as they grow into their large frames.
These two seem to have found the best nap of the day. The rug is warm, the room is quiet, and the world can wait until later. The sheepskin rises and falls with their breathing, and a small sigh from the pup on the left suggests that dreams have begun.
