Two Puppies Had a Plan to Get Out of the Playpen
Two golden puppies have a plan, and the playpen wall is standing in their way. Both pups have their front paws planted on the padded edge, stretching up to see over. The one on the left has his mouth slightly open as if mid-comment, and the one on the right gazes ahead with bright, focused eyes. Inside the pen, a cozy blanket lies unused, while the living room around them is covered with toys, socks, and a rope.
Puppies often try to climb out of playpens, and that is completely normal. They are curious and want to be where the action is. A playpen is useful for keeping a puppy safe while you cook or answer the door, but it works best when it is comfortable, stocked with chew toys, and not used for long stretches. Puppies still need plenty of time out for play, training, and social contact. If your pup becomes a talented climber, consider a taller pen and talk to your vet or a trainer for tips.
Golden Retrievers are bright and very people-oriented, so a pup that is left out of the family fun may protest. Short breaks in the pen, mixed with lots of attention, help the little ones learn to relax.
For now, the escape attempt is in progress, and the only guard on duty is that very low wall. We'll see who gets out first.
