A Fluffy White Puppy Sat Down in the Autumn Leaves and Gazed Away
Autumn has dropped a carpet of orange and brown leaves by the back door, and a small white puppy sits right in the middle of it. His fluffy coat stands out beautifully against the foliage, and he looks off to the side with dark, thoughtful eyes. A pair of old shoes, a coat on a hook, a pot of plants, and a worn doormat sit by the door, with a warm golden sunset glowing behind.
Fall is a delightful time to explore with a puppy, but leaf piles can hide hazards. Damp leaves may grow mold, and mushrooms, acorns, and some seeds are poisonous to dogs. Sharp sticks and trash can hide beneath the pile as well. Keep an eye on your pup so he does not eat things from the ground, and call your vet if he does.
Maltese puppies have long, silky coats that pick up leaves and burrs easily. A brush after outdoor time keeps them from forming mats, and checking between the toes prevents any hidden thorns from staying stuck. The cooler weather also calls for short outings, because a tiny dog loses heat quickly. Keep a towel by the door for damp little paws.
He seems to be thinking about the crunch beneath his paws. It is the sound of autumn, and he clearly approves.
