Three White Puppies Fell Asleep in the Wrapping Paper Under the Tree
The wrapping paper is torn and the tree is lit, and three white puppies are fast asleep in the middle of it all. They lie shoulder to shoulder on a cream blanket, chins on paws, eyes closed. Pine needles and brown paper scraps trail across the floor. Overhead, a wooden star, pinecones, and warm lights hang from the branches, while a plush bunny and a basket sit nearby.
Holiday decorations are lovely, but they bring risks for tiny puppies. Pine needles can irritate a stomach, tinsel and ribbon can cause blockages, and ornaments can break. Wrapping paper scraps are tempting to chew, so clean up promptly. Keep electrical cords out of reach. Because Maltese puppies are so small, even a minor swallowed object can be serious, so call your vet right away if you are worried.
The excitement of the holidays can also tire a small puppy. Quiet breaks away from the crowd help him recharge, and a comfy blanket in a calm corner gives him a place to rest. Stick to his normal routine of meals, walks, and naps when you can. A bowl of fresh water within reach is welcome after a busy day. Offer a chew toy in place of the wrapping paper.
After all the unwrapping, the best gift is a quiet nap together. Three small dreamers have already opened it.
