Two Weimaraner Puppies Melted Into a Fluffy Rug Together
The rug is shaggy, the light is warm, and two silver-gray puppies have fallen deeply asleep right in the middle of it. They lie nose to nose, floppy ears folded, with paws tucked beneath their chins and velvety muzzles pressed into the fluff. Behind them, a basket of laundry, a few chewed toys and a pair of slippers hint at a very busy day that came before this nap. Not a single whisker is moving.
Puppies sleep a lot because their bodies and brains are working overtime. The deepest sleep is also when a lot of learning settles in, which is why a short nap after a training session or a new experience is very helpful. Weimaraners often love soft surfaces and warm company, and many dislike being left alone for long stretches, so a cozy spot near the family is a good choice. If a puppy twitches or makes tiny muffled barks in its sleep, that is normal dreaming, and it is usually best to leave it be.
For now the biggest decision on the schedule is which way to roll over. The rug has been tested and it passes.
Rugs like this are puppy magnets for good reason. They are soft under the chin, warm underfoot, and full of the scent of home. It is no surprise that the pair chose it for their long, quiet rest after all that play.
