Three Weimaraner Puppies Rolled Across the Lawn in One Big Pile
It is a heap of gray legs, flopping ears and happy growls. Three silver-gray puppies roll across a green lawn in a full-contact wrestling match, one on top with paws on a sibling's back, one in the middle with a wide open-mouthed grin, and one tucked underneath with only a tail and a back leg showing. Behind them a wooden fence, a clay pot and a leafy shrub frame the yard. Nobody is hurt, and everybody is delighted.
Rough-and-tumble play is a normal way for puppies to learn bite control, body language and social skills. Healthy play often includes role reversals, pauses and loose, bouncy movements. If one puppy cries out, hides or tries to leave, it is time to step in and give a break. Weimaraner pups are energetic and need good outlets as they grow, including supervised play with other friendly dogs. Keep play sessions short enough that no one gets overexcited, and give each puppy a chance to rest and drink water.
After the wrestling, there will be a quick nap in the grass. It is a very fair way to spend an afternoon.
Backyard wrestling matches like this one are about more than fun. They are how puppies learn the rules of being a dog, and the loud, bouncy, wriggly version is exactly how it should look.
