Five Lemon and White Beagle Puppies Wrestled in One Big Fluffy Pile
A tangle of lemon and white fur rolls across the lawn as five Beagle puppies wrestle in the grass. One lies on her side with a wide, silly grin, another is perched on top of the pile with a front paw raised, and two more wriggle in a happy heap. Behind them the house has bright windows and a leafy shrub by the wall. The grass is a patchwork of green, with a few dandelions dotted across it.
Puppy play is how Beagles learn manners, and it is a very healthy part of growing up. During play, puppies take turns chasing and being chased, and they test how hard they can bite. Breaks, role reversals and bouncy movements are good signs. If one puppy seems scared or tries to leave, step in and give him a moment. A group of littermates also practices the pack behavior that Beagles were bred for, and this social side makes them very happy in a family.
Supervise yard play and make sure the area is safe. Hydration matters on warm days, so bring a bowl of fresh water outside.
By sunset, the wrestling will be done, and the pile will turn into a heap of sleepy puppies. Every roll and tumble makes them stronger, and each squeal means a friendship is getting a little deeper in a patch of grass.
