Three Beagle Puppies Chose the Laundry Pile Over Their Own Bed
Three red and white Beagle puppies have turned a pile of beige clothes and towels into a bed. They are curled in a row with their heads touching, eyes closed, ears folded and paws tucked in. One has a white blaze running down her nose, and another has her chin resting on the fabric. A wooden doorway and a basket mark the edge of the room, and the light is soft and warm.
Laundry piles are popular with dogs because they smell like their people. Beagles, with their remarkable sense of smell, often find comfort in a worn shirt or sock. If your puppy keeps choosing the laundry, try placing a soft blanket and an item that smells like you in their bed. Be careful with small garments and socks, which can be swallowed, and keep dirty laundry out of reach if a puppy chews. A clean, comfortable bed makes a better long-term nap spot.
Beagles bond closely with their families and often seek out their scent, so you may find your puppy on your clothes more than once.
It is hard to complain when the culprits look this peaceful. When someone finally needs those clothes, there will be a gentle negotiation, and the puppies will almost certainly win. It is the sort of small, quiet scene that makes an ordinary day feel a little brighter.
