Five Samoyed Puppies Climbed Into One Bike Basket. Room for Anyone Else?
How many puppies can one wicker basket hold? Apparently five, if nobody minds a little elbow room being traded for fluff. The pup at the top has her mouth wide open in a delighted grin, while the others peer out in different directions with dark button eyes. The basket sits on the front of a bicycle parked in a hallway, and a leafy houseplant and a sunny window frame the scene.
Puppies crowd together for good reason. In a litter, warmth and closeness are comfort, and Samoyed pups, with their dense coats, especially like to pile up. That instinct is why they often seem calmest when they are touching a sibling or a soft blanket. A basket or a snug bed can give a new puppy the same feeling at home.
One practical note: a real bike ride with a dog needs more than a basket. A puppy should not ride loose in a basket on the road, since a sudden stop or a startled jump can lead to a fall. Talk to your vet about safe ways to travel with a pup, such as a secure carrier made for the purpose. Young puppies also should not be over-exercised, and your vet can tell you when they are ready for longer outings.
Whatever the destination, this little crew has clearly found the coziest seat available, and the open-mouthed pup on top is enjoying the view the most.
