Two Sleepy Samoyed Puppies Found the Warmest Spot in the House
Warm light spills across a chipped windowsill, and two white puppies have claimed the sunniest spot for a nap. Their eyes are shut, their muzzles rest on the painted ledge, and one pup has a paw stretched out in front, toes slightly curled. A gray cloth lies crumpled beside them, and beyond the glass the neighborhood glows in late golden light.
Dogs of all ages seek out sunny spots, and puppies sleep a great deal, often up to eighteen hours a day or more while they grow. That much rest is normal and healthy, so there is no need to wake a snoozing pup just for play. A quiet, warm place to nap, away from noise and foot traffic, helps them recharge for the next round of exploring.
A note for thick-coated breeds like the Samoyed: they are built for the cold, so a sunny windowsill can turn into a hot spot on a warm day. Make sure the room does not overheat, offer fresh water, and give them a cooler place to move to when they want it. If a pup seems unusually sleepy or restless, your vet can help sort out what is normal.
For these two, the afternoon sun is just right, and the only schedule on the calendar is to keep snoozing until someone wanders by with a snack.
