Frank and Dottie Spread Their Quilt Across the Table. Biscuit Claimed the Middle.

AI imagecorgiquiltingkitchen table

The quilt is spread across the whole kitchen table, a soft patchwork of blue florals, cream calicos, and faded plaids, and Frank and Dottie are each stitching their own corner. Both wear cream cable-knit sweaters, glasses perched on their noses, needles moving in careful little loops. Right in the middle of their project, Biscuit has curled up and fallen fast asleep, his fluffy red and white body nestled into the fabric pile, chin resting on a fold and eyes peacefully closed. Wooden cabinets, a dish towel on the counter, a couple of mugs, and a plant in the window fill the cozy kitchen behind them.

Dogs love to nap on soft, freshly handled fabric because it's warm and carries their people's scent, so a quilt in progress is basically an invitation. It's sweet, but sewing supplies need careful handling around pets. Needles, pins, and thread can be dangerous if swallowed, and a dog lying on fabric can easily end up with a stray pin poking into it. Use a magnetic pin holder, count needles before and after each session, and keep thread spools stored away. If you think your dog has swallowed a needle or a length of thread, contact your vet right away.

Frank and Dottie seem happy to stitch around their sleeping helper for now. When this quilt is finished, it will hold a few Corgi hairs and plenty of good memories.
