Snowdrop Walked Exactly as Far as She Wanted To. Then She Needed Two Chauffeurs.

AI imagenorwegian forest catcat walkporch steps

Back from their walk, Frank and Ruth have reached the bottom of the porch steps, and it seems Snowdrop has decided she's walked far enough. Ruth, in a quilted green jacket and glasses, holds the big white cat against her chest, while Frank, in a navy fleece and ball cap, slips his hands under Snowdrop's back legs to help support all that weight. Snowdrop hangs between them looking utterly unbothered, her fluffy tail dangling almost to Ruth's knees and her golden eyes calm. Fallen autumn leaves are scattered across the walkway and wooden steps behind them.

Norwegian Forest Cats are large and solidly built, so lifting one properly matters for both the cat and the person. Always support the chest with one hand and the hindquarters with the other, so the cat's weight isn't hanging from the front legs. For older adults, it's wise to lift with the legs rather than the back, and there's no shame in asking for a second pair of hands, just as Frank is doing here. If your cat enjoys outdoor walks, a well-fitted harness and leash keep them safe, and many cats need patient, gradual training before they're comfortable on one. Always check fur for burrs or ticks afterward.

Snowdrop has clearly earned her ride home, or at least she believes she has. With two devoted chauffeurs, she won't be climbing those steps on her own today.
