Grandma Odessa Spread Out Her Old Photos. Onyx Wanted a Closer Look.
Dozens of black-and-white photographs are fanned across the kitchen table, and Grandma Odessa is working through them one at a time, her tan cardigan soft against the wood and her short silver hair catching the lamplight. Her face is calm and thoughtful, the look of someone visiting old friends. Right at the edge of the pile, Onyx leans in, his big ears upright and his slim, wavy-coated body stretched across the table so he can sniff the snapshots too. A mug, a ball of yarn and a few keys sit nearby in the cozy clutter.
The Devon Rex is known for its short, curly coat, large ears and playful, people-loving nature. Many owners describe the breed as clownish and clingy, happy to follow you from room to room and join whatever project is on the table. That also means a little supervision is smart. Paper, photographs and tiny keepsakes can be chewed, scratched or knocked to the floor, so keep treasured pictures out of paws' reach when you are not there. A Devon Rex also has a fine coat that does not hold heat as well as thicker fur, so a warm spot nearby is appreciated. Talk to your vet about grooming and care for the breed.
Odessa does not seem to mind the extra helper at all. A cat that wants to look at your memories is a pretty good listener.
