Odessa Dropped the Tailgate for a Rest. Onyx Climbed Into Her Lap.

The sky is soft and gray, the field stretches out behind them and Grandma Odessa has found a perfect seat on the lowered tailgate of an old truck. She wears a green sweatshirt and glasses, her short silver hair lifted a little by the breeze. On her lap, Onyx stands with his front paws pressed against her, looking up toward her face with big bright eyes. A wooden fence post and rows of crops fade into the distance behind them. It looks like a moment made for quiet conversation, though the only voice here is Onyx's soft chirp.

Taking a cat outdoors calls for care. A harness and leash made for cats are the safest way to enjoy the view, since a startled cat can twist out of a collar or dart off in a second. Stay close to a vehicle or a fenced area, avoid places with other animals or machinery, and bring water. Devon Rex cats are people-focused and can be quite adventurous when they feel safe, but their fine coats offer little protection from wind or cold, so keep outings short on chilly days. Check with your vet about vaccines and parasite prevention before your cat spends time outside.

Odessa and Onyx look like they could sit there until the sun goes down. A quiet field, a warm lap and a good friend are about all you need.
